The tiny nation of Malta recently came under fire when it announced plans to allow wealthy foreigners to obtain a passport for a 650,000 euro investment with no residency requirement, which would have made it the cheapest European Union (EU) nation in which to purchase citizenship.Jun 4, 2014

A person is eligible to apply for Maltese citizenship if prior to his application he has resided in Malta for a period of five year Children of citizens of Malta who have not acquired citizenship automatically at birth or cannot apply for registration by descent can acquire Maltese citizenship by naturalization.
